Thank you for the welcome,

While I am not considered a Christian, I am a believer in God, and also believe that we are all listening to the call -- the call to our spiritual home.

Well hello Mondo!  So nice to see you again!!!!  I'm glad granny gave you the link, Heart to Heart is AWESOME, I love the sharing here, it's full of Light and Love, and lots of interesting perspectives and discussions!

Happy to see you here, Mondo, hope you feel right at home too.

I'm not considered a Christian, any Christian church would kick me out in a heartbeat as a heretic, but I am a believer too.

The scripture I think in Corinthians explains how God gives us all different "Gifts" of the Spirit.  There are many paths.....but I think the destination is One...our Source!!!!

Love,
Barb

Hello everyone,
It is so like taking a drink from the Lord, when I come in here. The acceptance is over whelming with love and lots of hugs from each of you. Even though each of us are in many paths we are in Him as He is in us. Finding our true identity and knowing His love like we have never known before. I excited for each on you, where you have come from and where you are going. Bless you all

Hey Gayle, I've been out a while myself, but returned just last week.  You mentioned not being a Christian . ..  I sometimes wonder myself if Christ did show up in the flesh . . .first, would he be able to convince the church that he was who he said he was, and secondly, would the church follow who he really is rather than their image of who they think he is.

I see myself as a Christian, Christ is the centerpiece of my table of life . .not saying I'm perfect or Mr. holy, but there isn't a day that goes by that me and him don't talk to, or about each other.  And I'm also a pastor . .but truth be told, I'm the biggest heretic that I've ever met . .. and I do what I can to keep the profile a low one when I'm around my superiors.

The reason for that is because I believe Christ is more about relationship than a doctrine.  I'm misguided, lost, false teaching, counterfeit and have fallen into a cult.  I've been accused of all of the above and I love Christ more than I ever have in all my life.  Go figure.

This place has always been a bit of a safe-haven.  The mods here have a different agenda . . .while they "want" to let us say whatever we wish about whatever we want, there is also a parenting piece that they protect those here from personal attacks when things get passionate or heated.  There is a great balance of freedom and protection here at the same time.

You'll see soon enough . . . the people here are the real thing.

Blessings.

Hi Nathan!  It's been great reading your sharings here, thanks for coming back and for opening up in this post, especially.  I am so glad for so many that are pastors, ministers, preachers of every sort, that join here and can share without feeling fear of condemnation for, uh, well being honest about what you believe and also what you question!  For me, those two go hand in hand, because we need to question our beliefs!  Those that don't, get stuck in stagnation.  I like to regularly question my beliefs and every time I think I know and then get into questioning/seeking.... I end up realizing how little I know.  But ....big BUT here.....whenever I've gotten stuck in a certain belief system for a long while.....I always look back on it now and am grateful for what I learned and for how I grew....I see it ALL as stepping stones.  So for me, religion is a quite necessary stepping stone in the *getting to know God* deal!

Nathan, I am with you in believing that Christ about relationship.  I tend to think of Christ first as a verb, Christos being the Greek word meaning "Anointed", and then I think of Christ as a noun being like a label describing someone anointed....by God's Holy Spirit.  I know that Jesus was teaching us to become what he was becoming....a life-giving Spirit.  Put the mind that was in him....in us!  Let the old man decrease and the new man increase, in us.  He can show us the way, but until we choose God's way (God is Love!!!!), we shall remain in the earthen shell hell, when the Kingdom is near, as near as our heartbeat!!!  The Kingdom of Heaven is within us....is possibly the most profound thing Jesus taught.

Love,
Barb

Hello.

Granny sent me here.  She's been a dear friend, so I accepted the invite here.  I have a unique bunch of beliefs and despite my prior history, don't really care to argue about them.  For starters:

1.  I am a KJV guy and only use that Bible.  Not to the extent that I shun anyone who doesn't use it, and I do not like when people use multiple versions.  Often times, it's because they don't want to follow everything the Bible says, so they find one that suits their own wording.
2.  I don't believe in the Trinity.  I do believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and that they are all God,  but I reject the doctrine of 3 persons in one God.
3.  I'm not much on free will.  I don't believe anything we do isn't known before hand to the Lord.  I believe the Lord knows what we are going to do and has it predestined.  this is not to say we won't struggle and it's not to say we don't make wrong decisions.  It doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make the right decisions.
4.  I don't believe in "Christianizing" that which was and is of polytheism.  With that, I don't celebrate Christmas, Easter (though I note the ressurection was true) or Halloween.
5.  I don't believe in works and faith mixing.  Grace is not of works and you don't show your faith by works.  Works are good, but they don't prove faith.

These are all things that many Christians have argued with me....  Fine....  But this is who I am and what I believe.  I may be wrong, or you may be wrong if you disagree with me.  But I do give due credit and react to the mood of the respondants.... I try NOT to, because that escalates things.

But I'm happy  to be here....

Hi, all you Sacred Folks 'out there' !!

I've just joined today (3/11/09), and am looking forward to sharing and hearing YOUR sharings ! I read lips, but almost NO ONE knows that unless I tell them! They often ask me if I'm from Germany (once asked me "Australia?" and another "Switzerland?", but I laugh and say, "No, it's probably because I had German measles when I was 9 months old, and learned to talk [more] by lip-reading, via my dear Mother's strong efforts to teach me, one word at a time." (she was only 23 at the time) BTW, I have had a cochlear implant, as of Good Friday, April 19, 2003, and it DOES help me to hear better, but I still cannot understand most of what people say without reading their lips. I have a special CapTel telephone (i.e., has captions), with a 5-line monitor that the relay operator types the other person's verbal words into, so I can at least READ what my friend or family member is saying. Occasionally I AM able to understand a short or medium-length sentence before it even appears onscreen -- YAY!!

I too "subscribe" to the higher-level of relating to "people out there"....that there is DEFINITELY a Divinity within us all, if we but knew WHERE, and HOW, to look. It took me YEARS to FEEL that. Yea, God is EXTREMELY REAL....and deeee-LIGHT-ful !!!! ;-DDD (emoticon for "Biiig Smile")

Have a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

Linda

Hi Ron!

Thank you very much for inviting me to your banquet of Spiritual Crumbs where all the Children and "Hounds of Heaven" are!! (ha!) Those of us who live "on the fringes" reap the benefit of not HAVING TO think "like the rest of the crowd" does, and are FREEEEE to GO...STRAIIIIGHT....TO....THE...LORD GOD ALMIGHTY for our answers and Wisdom and Understanding (the latter being borne out of Sacred Experiences that the "crowd" never talks about...hence Solitude IS where we experience them, to our utter eternal satisfaction!! O Hallelujah!!! ;-DDD ["Biiig Smile"] )

Blessings, blessings, BLESSINGS!!

Dear Shirley,

Hellooooo!! Thank you so much for telling me about my name! I took Spanish in high school, and I thought it only meant "pretty". You know, my 2nd year of Spanish was pretty difficult for me, because my teacher (who was Spanish...Mrs. DeCarli) would play Spanish tapes for the class to take dictation ...simple sentences, I'm sure. BUT....since I could only read lips, I had to just sit there and do nothing while the rest of the class was busily writing away. Mrs. DeCarli told me I should not take Spanish III, because it would have been ALL CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH, and she didn't think I could do it. And, soooo, that ended my "foreign language" exposure. HOWEVER, I gained a GREAT EDUCATION from my Webster's Collegiate (I had to buy it in my freshman year in college 47 years ago, for my English classes)Dictionary of the American Language, because about 15 years ago, I got curious about the definitions of words in my King James Bible, and so spent HOURS sitting hunched over on my bed, looking up words and writing down their ORIGINS (learning many languages in the process!!) as well as their definitions, on 3x5" slips of paper...as a result, I have STACKS of those 3x5" papers in my drawer! HA! Anyway, I LEARNED AN AWFUL LOT about the ancient languages & derivatives, and found that very valuable, especially when reading Spiritually-oriented materials. Did you or anyone else here know that the word "family" is derived from Italian "famiglia," and means "servant" ?? NEAT, huh?? ;-DDD !!

Linda

P.S. What is the blank box below this posting-box for? Pictures?? Am I able to copy appropriate graphics from, say, Photobucket.com, and post them in the box below this posting to you?

I don't know what the blank box is for (?).

I do a lot of lip-reading myself....not because I have what you have, but because I have ringing in my ears.  Sometimes the ringing is pretty loud (to me), and when people (mainly women) talk in a high-pitched tone, I can't comprehend them.  I've had ringing in the ears since I young...around 12 or so.  I've been told by doctors, all my life, "You can't have that...it's an old man's disease!"  Well...hello.....I'm neither old nor a man!!! Although I'm getting "older" now.   Anyway, I learned to watch people's mouth as they talked to make sure I understood what they were saying.  I wear glasses, so sometimes if I have my glasses off and someone starts talking to me, you might hear me say, "Wait just a minute. Let me get my glasses.  I can't hear you without my glasses on!" LOL

Hi again, Shirley!

Have you had a hearing test? I found that when I went months without wearing my hearing aid, I developed tinnitus ("noises in my ear") -- according to an audiologist, that's what the brain does when it doesn't have any auditory input (i.e., it's "starved for sound"). Have you tried Googling : 'tinnitus - treatment' ?? I read a good while back that there's some kind of medicine (PERHAPS over-the-counter) that can stop the ringing noise. I noticed that once I was wearing my hearing aid again, I stopped hearing the "head noises" ! (even at night, WITHOUT the hearing aid on !!!) Whewwww....!!

Anyway, that is funny! "WAIT!! I need my glasses on so I can hear you better!" Hee !

P.S. How did you incorporate those little graphics in your latest posting to me??? I tried to import a "special effect" (a word) from my Word Document into this posting to you, but the printing came out the same as the printing contained here! Help, please! Thank you!

BOP:  When you hit "reply" and it brings up the window to type, there is a symbol of a smiley face over to the right, just below the margin justification symbols: click on the smiley face and it'll bring up a bunch of different "smilies"...you just click once on the one you choose and it'll automatically be placed in the script where your curser is.  About the transporting of "special effects"...someone else may know how to do that, I don't.

A doctor told me not too long ago that they had medication out for "tinnitus" but it is also used as an anitdepressant...medication in it is primarily used to help people quit smoking.  The doctor himself had 'tinnitus" and said he would not advise me to take it ...unless I just wanted to try it.   I've had this since I was young....I'm afraid I might miss "camping out" every night with the crickets!!  May be too quiet for me to sleep!! LOL

    LOL !

Anyway, yes, if you enjoy your "crickets,"  by all means KEEP THEM!!      (especially since you've had them since you were young.  Me, I've had Total Silence from infancy on, whenever I don't have my hearing aid (or, now, cochlear implant processor) on, and I enjoy that as well ( allows me to "hear my thoughts"...).

Thank you very much for your input!

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again

I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
'Cause the [Son's] in my heart
And I'm ready for love

Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from their place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face

I'll walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
'Cause I'm singing
Just singing in the rain.

Hi!!  I just a minute ago tried to post a message, and I don't know WHEN a message HAS been actually SENT.  So, I'll re-send the message as best as I remember it :  I got the following little story from another forum a few minutes ago, and thought all of you might enjoy it too.  Here 'tis, without further 'ado' :

The Magpie

In a meadow lived a magpie. From his perch the bird could see every creature that moved beneath. The magpie collected bits of things that it kept tucked away in its nest.

The magpie believed that the meadow belonged to him and everyone and everything that crossed beneath his tree was truly beneath him. All the creatures in the meadow knew the magpie and they were all very careful to say only things the bird liked to hear and they did whatever he told them to do. This was because the magpie had a terrible temper and would often pelt those he did not like with the things he had stored in his nest. The things were usually hard or sharp. All the animals knew better than to cross the magpie.

It came to pass than a small field mouse took up residence in the hollow of the tree's roots. The mouse said a cheerful "Good Morning" to the bird every day. Each day the mouse offered to share some of the things he had collected with the bird. Magpie was so furious at the appearance of this cheerful little intruder that at first he didn't even speak to him. Then he recovered himself and began pelting the mouse with bits of things in an effort to get him to leave. On the first day the bird dropped twigs and branches down on the mouse. Mouse very happily gathered the twigs and took them inside his burrow. The second day the bird threw acorns and hard nuts down on the mouse, often leaving him red with welts and bruises. Mouse collected the things and took them inside. On the third day the magpie was really seething with hatred for this mouse. How dare he invade his territory and then ignore the bird's best efforts to drive him away? The bird waited for the mouse to leave his hole and then rained a collection of stones down on him. After licking his wounds, mouse hauled the stones into his burrow. The fourth day mouse was out in the field and spotted a boy standing by the tree. The boy was laughing and standing over the magpie. He had felled the bird with his slingshot and was preparing to crush it beneath his boot.

Quick as a flash mouse ran to the boy and bit him hard on the ankle. The boy shrieked and dropped his weapon. Then ran home crying. Mouse scurried over to magpie and began to smooth his ruffled feathers. Then he went inside and brought out bits of cloth and some of the sticks the bird had used to pelt him and fashioned a stretcher. He placed magpie on the stretcher and pulled him into his burrow where he nursed him back to health by feeding him acorn broth by a twig fire. He served the broth in stone bowl. It took nearly a week before magpie was well enough to speak. He could not believe that it was mouse who had saved him.

When he could talk, the bird said, "Why? After the way I treated you, why would you save me?" Mouse looked truly shocked by the bird's words. "Why? After all the kindness you have shown me, how could I do otherwise?" Mouse said.  "Kindness!" gasped the magpie. He did not say more, because he was suddenly ashamed of what his real intentions had been. "You gave me twigs for my fire and branches to build my furniture," Mouse said. "You gave me enough acorns and nuts to feed me through the winter and enough stones to make these fine bowls. True, your aim was often poor, but how could I be angry with so generous a neighbor?"

From that day on the magpie became truly generous, to Mouse and all the other animals in the meadow. He flew far and wide collecting bits to share with them. Only now he was sure to give his offerings gently and he never again cast a stone at a neighbor.

~~author unknown~~

This reminds me of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol , where the bird is "Scrooge Magpie", and the "Ghost of Christmas Future" was the boy with the slingshot, et al .

Hi all! I'm a friend of Diana (SkyDreamer)....came here today when I heard about her house burning down and wanted to read her testimony....she is such a testament to the 'peace that passes all understanding' and I am refreshed by her firmness to be still and know God! An added joy to my morning was when I came here and watched a few videos.... I LIKE THIS PLACE!! Peace to all!
